Airfix 1/32 Scale Spanish Civil War Nationalists

1/32 scale Airfix plastic Japanese infantry.

The conversions by a friend of mine Alberto Beneítez.

Really clever and inspirational conversions Alberto, looking forward to seeing these painted up soon.

Oh, and finally an Airfix British commando who's been transformed into a Spanish Civil War Republican.

Armourfast StuG III

We got together on Wednesday evening with our wargame group "El Brazo de Nelson" for a quick game and we got to use for the first time these two Armourfast 1/72 scale quick-build StuG IIIs that were built and painted by Carlos de la Concha.

Lovely models, unfortunately they were under my command and with my notoriously bad dice throwing skills they couldn't hit a barn door during the whole of the game.

IGB of Poland - Bedfords & Chevrolet C15

I'm posting some pictures of three 1/72 IGB kits of WWII British trucks that my regular wargame "enemy" Juan had bought specifically to use in some desert wargame scenarios.

1/72 Scale WW2 History Book - When The Time Comes by Mark Thomas

Mark Thomas, a veteran 20mm gamer and modeler from Oregon (US) whom I met over the internet about 10 years ago now, told me some time back that he was working on a history book illustrating scenes and information related to some of the most important battles of WW2 using 1/72 scale models, figures and scenery.

Mark's book is now finished and he's informed me that he'll be making it available to interested parties on a CD-Rom for USD 9.95 + postage which can be purchased directly by contacting him on the following email : cbeta@q.com

You can read some sample excerpts and see some sample pictures his book  as posted by another veteran 1/72 scale gamer and modeler, David Reasoner, on the Command Decision Test of Battle Forum on the following links:

So, good luck with the book Mark and hopefully if this one is a success for you, we can look forward to seeing a second publication from you next year maybe ?

New Nappies - RobH

As a follow on to a skirmish scenario we gamed with some of our regular wargame buddies a couple of weeks ago (http://wargamestenerife.blogspot.com/2011/08/song-of-drums-and-shakos-escaramuzas.html), our mate Rob brought some very nice freshly painted 1/72 Italeri Napoleonic British he's just finished.

HaT El Cid Almoravid Infantry

Our mate RobH came over on Saturday and he treated us to an excellent game using Impetus ruleset with his collection of Samurai in 15mm.

Apart from putting on a great game, he also brought along some of his painted 1/72 scale HaT Moors that he's based to also use with the same rules, and they are very nice indeed, the pictures of the painted HaT figures speak for themselves.

Guest Gallery - Dave Hall

Some photos I was kindly sent for the blog by Dave Hall from the States.

Hi John

Here a few pictures from my game back in October at the Rio Grande Wars convention in the American Southwest. I play tested a simple scenario for my new rules which are set to come out in the Spring. The figures are plastic, mostly ESCI, Italeri and Orion. Please ignore the Panzerfausts. Those units were used as light machine gun teams.

Thanks

Here are a few recognizable Hasegawa trucks, a Starter Toyota GB and a Fuel Isuzu TX-40.

There were pretty simple conversions.  I used Evergreen Scale Models, Sheet Styrene with 2.0mm spacing V-Groove for the truck beds.

The Toyota is the smaller of the two vehicles.  Each could be said to hold a squad of infantry.  The Isuzu's canvas cover is a modified one from a Pegasus American 6 Ton.  I just cut the back end off to fit the length of the bed.  Both are pretty easy kits, but I would probably stick with the Isuzu as a primary truck transport.

For any experts on Japanese trucks, the beds are a little rudimentary in design but there are few pictures out on the internet to work off of and I opted for the wargamer's choice!

Keeping it simple

Cheers!

WW2 US & Japanese Pacific Wargame Units by Dave Hall (USA)

I was sent these photos to add to the blog by Dave Hall from the States.

Dave based these troops for his own rules, which he will be publishing in a book he's writing on World War Two in the very near future.

The shots are of a platoon of US Marines, both ESCI and Revell, while the Japanese are from Waterloo 1815 and ESCI.

Fujimi Normandy Tiger I

I "inherited" this tank, along with quite a few other 20mm gems, from a member of our wargame club, Alberto Beneitez, when he moved away a couple of years back.

It's a Fujimi 1/76 kit and has made a few appearances in various games, and in its day it valiently played the part of Michael Wittman, merrily blasting holes in the British 7th Armoured Division's tanks.

Forces of Valor 1/72 Conversions by Doug Iovinelli

More pictures from a friend of mine, Doug Iovinelli, a huge smallscale enthusiast from San Diego in California.

These are The Forces of Valor 1/72 figures, with several conversions, cut up torsos and arm swaps, to make a platoon of D-DAY Rangers.
