Airfix Highland Infantry

07th October 2011

Slowly but surely getting on with the Highlanders. Here's the first batch. The figures are just enough to fill about 3 20x20mm stands - so still a way to go before I have enough stands to get a few batallions together.

Strelets Boers

They have chunky and exaggerated poses, but on the plus side every single figure has a different pose.

You can see a full review of the figures on the excellent Plastic Soldier Review website

"Dream House"

I was in the UK a short while ago and happened to go into a "Poundshop"

Sifting through the garbage and tat, you can usually always find something useful in those places and I found these brightly coloured 1/72 scale "Dream houses" - well, actually half a house, you have to buy two to make a full-house.

When I get them painted up they should make half-decent scenery items.

More than "amused", I found the description hilarious :-)

On the workbench

What I have on the workbench at the moment. Not quite sure when I'll get these onto a wargame table, but I have a vague idea in mind about doing some modern urban skirmish scenarios. The figures are Caesar and Revell.

Circus Maximus in 1/72 Scale

Iván Cáceres, another of my regular wargame opponents (he thrashed me in a game on Saturday just gone by the way, damn him), is also an avid 1/72 scale fan.

He's been working on updating the old board-game "Circus Máximus" into a version using miniatures.

The miniatures were painted by Iván and also by Carlos de la Concha.

The new "board" needs a centre-structure and some statues, spectators etc., so more photos to follow sometime in the near future when the table's finished.

Work in Progress - Matchbox M16 Half-Track

A couple of 1/76 scale M16 Half-tracks (w/50cal quad) under construction. This is the Matchbox-Revell re-release.

The tracks are far too fragile though. I'll have to try and find an alternative as these broke as soon as I tried to get them over the rear roller assembly.

Apart from the problem with the dodgy tracks, the kit looks as sharp in detail and as easy to put together as it ever was.

Modern(ish)

Esci (now Italeri) NATO Pilots and Ground Crew.

Also a Revell Deutsches Kommando Spezialkräfte - better known as the KSK - hidden in amongst the figures there.
